How to tell if your shoes are a good fit

How to tell if your new shoes are a good fit!

Your lovely new pair of shoes has arrived and now you're trying them on for the first time.

👍Tip 1 - Try them on with the outfit you will be wearing them with

If you’ll be wearing them with socks and trousers, try them on wearing socks and trousers. Or if you’ll be wearing them with tights, try them on with tights of the right colour. This allows you to see whether the outfit and shoes work well together.

👍Tip 2 - Try both shoes on and do them up fully

Your left and right feet are slightly different shapes, so one shoe may fit differently to the other. Trying both on allows you to figure out if both shoes fit or not.
Also try doing them up with your heel on the floor and your toes lifted up. This will get your foot into the right position in the shoe.

👍Tip 3 - Stand up and look at them in the mirror.

Shoes always look very long when you look down on them. Looking at them in the mirror allows you to see them from a different angle.

👍Tip 4 - Check how they feel.

⭐️They should feel comfortable but firm.

⭐️They should not be actually pinching you anywhere.

⭐️Your big toe should not be touching the top end of the shoe.

⭐️Your toes should not be pushing out the sides of the shoes (It’s okay if they are touching).

⭐️When you walk around your heels shouldn’t move up and down noticeably. They’ll move a bit but they shouldn’t drop off with every step.

⭐️⭐️Bonus Tip⭐️⭐️ Keep them on (on a carpet) for about 10 mins this will warm them up so when you walk in them they should feel softer and more pliable.

Improving the fit

👍If you have lace-ups, you can adjust the lacing at the widest part of your foot to give you the extra width you need.

👍Try doing them up with your heel on the floor and your toes lifted up. This will get your foot into the right position in the shoe.

👍 If you’ve bought court shoes they need to fit tightly or they will fall off so pad them out with a half insole.

I hope this helps you feel more confident with your purchase.
